How much does a website cost?

The cost of a website depends on many variables: design requirements, number of pages, how information is received (ie. digital/hardcopy, digital images/photo scanning), programming requirements (database, ecommerce, custom editor), etc. Our belief is that a website should not be built simply on a budget but according to your needs. To receive a price estimate for a website project, please use our online Request for Proposal - Website form.

What costs are associated with having a website?

There are three main costs: the design/development of the website, hosting ($20/month for a basic website) and domain names (ie. www.yourcompany.com, +/- $15/yr per name). Beyond that, there may be ongoing costs to keep the website up to date with a maintenance contract or on a per time basis. An alternative is to do your own updates using a custom website editor.

Now that I have a website - how do people find it?

Your website needs to be advertised to your target audience. All of your marketing materials (business cards, brochures, ads, etc.) should direct people to your website. Search engines are a great tool for the right business or organization, but a regular investment is needed in order to achieve good ranking.

What do you need from us to get started?

First, we need to sit down with you to go over the needs of your business or organization. Once we have established a site plan based on your needs, we need your logo etc. as well as any other items you would like included in the design template. Once a design and layout has been designed and approved , we would then need all the page information (copy/pictures) to build the website.

What is a domain name?

A domain name is the main web site address (yourcompany.com is the domain name for the url http://www.yourcompany.com).

Domain names match up to an IP (Internet Protocol) address. A computer on the Internet is called a host. To locate a host on the Internet, another computer uses the Domain Name System (DNS). The computer looks for a domain name on the Internet (e.g. www.advedea.com) by asking a DNS Server for an Internet Protocol address (IP address) to match to the domain name.

What is Flash?

Flash is animation software, manufactured by macromedia which can be used to create animated graphics or complete web sites. Most modern browsers have the Flash plug-in pre-installed, users with older browsers will have to download the Flash plug-in from Macromedia to view Flash-enabled web sites.
