Jan Gelderman Landscaping | 50th Anniversary Celebration
In 2005, Jan Gelderman Landscaping reached the milestone of 50 years in business. In order to mark this acheivement, and also communicate this milestone as a marketing strategy, we were asked to create 50th anniversary advertising materials and plan a grand anniversary celebration.
The first order of business was to create a 50th anniversary ‘brand’. This logo appeared on all advertising materials for 2006, including magazine advertisements and a newspaper supplement. Many items were then created to promote their anniversary, specifically their upcoming grand anniversary celebration, to customers (past and present), suppliers and dignitaries. A commemorative 1950s style truck complete with company decals was send out to over 200 select recipients with advance notice of the anniversary celebration. Special invitations were created and sent out, along with nametags, to over 1300 invited guests.
Together with a committee of employees from Jan Gelderman Landscaping, we also arranged for the celebration to be professionally catered, and sent special invites to many dignitaries. In order to make this celebration as grand and memorable as possible, we also:
arranged and coordinated the rental of large tents
hired a caricature artist to draw caricatures of the guests, on special event paper, as a keepsake item
designed 10 large commemorative posters to reflect on the companies history (each highlighting 5 years)
ordered (50’s style) with the company logo and 50th anniversary logo to be handed out to guests at the celebration
The anniversary celebration was held on August 9, 2005 outside the offices of Jan Gelderman Landscaping. It was attended by over 800 invited guests, including Rob McIsaac, Mayor of Burlington, Larry DiIanni, Mayor of Hamilton, as well as other notable dignitaries and leaders of the business community. The event went off without a hitch and was a huge success, as attested by those in attendance. In the end, our objective was acheived: to thank all those who shared in 50 years of success for Jan Gelderman Landscaping and impress upon all attendees the quality and commitment of this company.
